Education

As I approach the beginning of another cohort start, I think about all of the opportunities that teaching provides each of us. What other occupation can you affect so many lives students and parents exponentially? As a teacher, you become the provider of content, the counselor, the nurse, the authority, the one to dry the tears, and the one to encourage and support. Even though the list may seem endless and tiring, there is no better reward than to have a student come back and say, I am successful because you took the time to care. Teaching is a hard job; however, it is one that provides more rewards than can ever be counted. For all of you who have recently gotten jobs (congratulations), to the ones still looking (don't give up hope), and to the ones about to start - know that what you do for students makes a difference in ways that you may never understand. I hope you all have a great rest of the summer and know how honored I am to be called a teacher. :-) Barbara

Barbara,
These words of encouragement are so helpful right now, as I (and others, I am sure) are searching hard to find a teaching job! Thank you for taking the time to reflect on the importance of our profession.
