Troops to Teachers

If you are former military, you may qualify for Troops to Teachers. If you qualify for the program, you could be eligible for up to $5,000 to help you meet the cost of certification or up to $10,000 as a bonus if you agree to teach in one of Georgia's high needs schools.

Georgia Teacher Certification Testing Requirements: The
Professional Standards Commission (PSC) initiated an educator assessment
program that is called the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of
Educators (GACE). The GACE web site is
www.gace.nesinc.com/GA_testdates.asp. They are the GACE Basic Skills and
the GACE Subject Content Area. The GACE Basic Skills Assessment is
required for acceptance into all teacher certification programs in
Georgia. The GACE Subject Content Area assessment is designed to
evaluate the specific subject area in which you intend to certify.
Coordination's are ongoing to have these tests offered through base education centers for active duty and reserve military personnel. We recommend you consider taking both tests prior to separating from the service if possible.

Please contact Georgia Troops to Teachers listed under the www.gapsc.com website.
